چکیده

In order to support livelihoods, enhance food security, restore ecosystem services, and reduce pressure on forests, degraded land can be restored by utilising alternative land-use systems (ALUS), such as silviculture, silvipasture, hortipasture techniques. ALUS significantly modify the dynamics of soil nutrients in both surface subsurface layers. Soils from 0–15, 15–30, 30–45 cm layers Leucaena leucocephala (S)-, Hardwickia binata (H)-, Emblica officinalis (A)-, Azadiracta indica (N)-based silviculture systems, Acacia nilotica-based silvipasture (SPS), natural grassland (NT), fallow (F) were sampled better understand nutrient ALUS. under S, H, SPS had ~203%, 195%, 129% higher organic carbon (SOC), respectively, than 0–15 layer. subsequent layer, those ~199%, 82%, 110% SOC, land. Similarly, deeper uses ~232%, 23%, 105% NT also improved SOC concentration over Plots ~198%, 190%, 125% available N, 15–30 ~19%9, These P K contents soil. Micronutrient concentrations soils SPS. Hence, ALUS’ adoption areas with trees provides a chance for C storage improves

Exploring the relationship between land use and surface water quality using multivariate statistics in arid and semi-arid regions

The relative impacts of different types of land use on the surface water quality are yet to be ascertained and quantified. In this paper, the influence of different types of land use on surface water quality is investigated. Rain events samples from different land use in the central plateau, Iran, were analyzed for major ions. Statistical analyses were employed to examine the statistical relati...

Soil Moisture Measurements by Synthetic Aperture Radar and Scatterometers in the Arid and Semi-arid Environment

Water is a scarce commodity in desert regions; yet, most remote sensing experiments of soil moisture have been conducted in temperate areas. The ability to detect and reliably assess soil moisture in the arid environment has important implications both at the micro scale such as the individual farm and at the macro scale for climate modeling. A series of experiments utilizing an airborne scatte...
